So, as you can see in the title, I am angry.
Someone emailed me asking if I just copied and pasted these essays from websites. NO, I wrote those essays, THIS summer!! The usual font is calligraffitti, and the text color is usually purple. The only reason a couple of my essays are double-spaced and black text (Autism, Why Students Dislike School, or Stop The Screens are examples) is because I copied and pasted my own essays that I had already written from Google Drive because I was too lazy to write the whole thing out.
But that is the only email I have gotten and I really look forward to hear from you guys!! (Please, give me a topic. I have way to much spare time)
This is a blog where I put all my essays for you to read!! I'd love getting feedback from you, you can either comment on a blog post what you think or email me at kaylajrossmiller@gmail.com

Should Boys and Girls be Seperated in Schools?
Did you know approximately 35% of all schools have separate classes based on gender? Many argue that having both genders in the same class could affect the way they learn. Some say they get to caught up in drama. But others argue that it's good for boys and girls to interact with each other, it is proven that females see differently then males. The three main reasons why genders should not be separated are because they can interact differently, kids achieve higher scores when put together, and because once they graduate school they have to work with all genders.
It's no secret that boys and girls are different, when put together they can do more. Any brain has what's called "grey matter," which is another term for "thinking matter." It's also made of "white matter," this is what's also called "extending matter." But boys have 7 times more grey matter then girls, and girls have 10 times more white matter then boys, which is also why they mature faster. Girls typically have a more sophisticated view of things, while boys tend to focus on a certain thing. Both traits combined will result in a well-rounded education.
It has been proven that when both genders are put together, they can achieve higher scores. André Boyd, a teacher at Johnson Middle School in California, states that "I've noticed that female classmates encourage unmotivated male students." If genders were separated, how would male students learn? It's not fair to just allow females to have a good education. This may not be true for all male students, but for the ones that do have trouble and need a female companion to help motivate them, how will that be done?
Having separated genders will not teach the students how to work with all people after school. Once they graduate, they'll need to work with everyone, not just their gender. All across the globe, 134,704 jobs work with just one gender. What is the chance all the students from a single gender school will get a single gender job? There is a very slim chance. In fact, about 133,530 of those jobs are taken by disadvantaged people.
In conclusion, having separated genders in school will not help anyone. All it will help is the drama in schools, which can easily be avoided with more guidelines from the school. Having co-ed schools can help pull grades up, have students more excited about learning, and teach them how to live life after school ends. How would you feel if you were in a single-gender school?

Are Actors and Actresses Paid Too Much?
We all have our favorite actors and actresses. We all proudly or secretly admire them. But has it ever occurred to us, that maybe they get paid a little too much?
The new hit movie the 5th Wave has everybody dying to see it. Chloe Grace Mortez does an amazing job playing Cassie. But did you know that that movie made over $67 billion dollars? Chloe alone made about 12 million dollars from that. It's a shame good money is wasted on money, all across the world people are in extreme poverty, and here we are spending about $67 billion dollars on a single movie! Imagine that price, but times all the movies in the world, which is about 268,246 movies! That's around $420,000,000,000 spent making movies. 420 billion dollars. According to hollywoodsapien.com, there are approximately 21,728 actors in actresses, in L.A alone. If the average actor makes $10 million dollars per movie, that is $217,280,000,000!!
The most famous actor is Tom Cruise. He has about $380 million dollars from all his movies. That money could be used for better purposes!
Not really an essay, just something I whipped up for you guys. Hope you are enjoying these, if you are, please feel free to leave a comment! I love hearing from you all!!

What It Takes To Be Great
What does it take to be successful? In the article “What it Takes to be Great” by Geoffery Colvin, it states that it takes practice to be great at something. In another article “Students’ View of Intelligence can Help Grades,” by Michelle Trudeau, it comes upon that having a mindset where students believe that they can become more intelligent will improve their academic performance. It takes work to be successful because natural gifts don’t come to people as babies; if kids know they can improve, it is proven that they do, and it takes practice and dedication to be great at something.
First of all, natural gifts don’t come to people as babies, in fact they don’t come to you at all! In the article “What it Takes to be Great”, it states that, “natural gifts don’t exist.” This example shows that no human being will be born with a special talent. Michael Howe, Jane Davison, and John Sluboda (all people mentioned in the article) quotes, “The evidence we have surveyed does not support the idea that excelling is a consequence of possessing natural gifts.” This means that success doesn’t come with natural talent, natural talent is developed within your lifetime.
Secondly, if kids know they can improve, it is proven that they do. In the article “ Students’ View of Intelligence Can Help Grades,” Trudeau says, “‘When they worked hard in school, they actually visualized how their brain was growing.’” This shows that kids are learning how they can improve, and what it takes to improve. Trudeau also states, “about one hundred seventh graders, all doing poorly in math, were randomly assigned to workshops on good study skills. The students in the second group ‘learned that the brain actually forms new connections every time you learn something new, and that over time, this makes you smarter.’” This is a demonstration of how kids can become smarter by learning how they can improve.
Thirdly, it takes practice to be successful. In the article “What it Takes to be Great,” it says that “even the most accomplished people need around ten years of hard work before becoming world-class, a pattern so well established researchers call it ‘the ten-year rule.’” This example shows that no human being is successful without work. Colvin also comes upon the fact that “talent has little or nothing to do with greatness.” This evidence is important because many people think that talent has everything or mostly everything to do with greatness.
In conclusion, it takes hard work to be successful. You aren’t born with natural gifts. Kids should
know that by knowing they can improve, they do. Lastly, everyone needs practice to be great at
something. You can’t just start doing something and get it right away. Overall, from my experience
as a dancer, I know that practice makes perfect. I wasn’t born knowing how to dance, it’s taken me
eight and a half years to get where I’m at now. But to be great at something, it takes practice, hard
work, and believing in myself.
Stop The Screens
Do you spend more time on screens than in school? Teens spend up to seven hours a day on screens. In the article “Tech Time Dangers” by Jeffrey Stinson, it states that many teens do. Teens should consider limiting screen time because it takes attention away from education, it is linked with dangerous interactions, and .it can cause them to miss out on real-life interactions.
First,it is linked with dangerous interactions. Teens stay up a long time on screens, sometimes sending inappropriate texts or images there parents tell them it's time to sleep. Jeffrey Stinson quotes that “many kids now watch tv online, and many send texts messages from their bedrooms after lights out.” Since kids use screens so much, it causes them to send bad things. Cyberbullying often occurs on social media, the most commonly used thing on screens. Many kids commit suicide because of cyberbullying, and more than 25% of teens get cyberbullied.
Second, it can detract from learning and grades. Jeffrey Stinson that “There was a study on 300 teens, and the ones that frequently had FaceBook open on their computers had the lowest retention of what they read.”Most of the time, there is little or no academic value on faceBook. Jeffrey Stinson also states that “87% of teachers surveyed say, ‘screens do more to distract students than to help them academically’” Many teens fail on quizzes or tests because of little or no study time.
Lastly, teens spend up to seven hours a day on screens. with teens always on screens, they miss out on family times and real-life interactions. According to Sara Gorr (someone who was mentioned in “tech time dangers”) states that “it’s bad for their civilization.” Because of being on screens so often, it can lead to a serious eye condition called macular degeneration. kids can go partially blind due to macular degeneration, which is caused by the LED light or the brightness of the screen.
All in all, teens should consider limiting screen time down to two hours. Screens can cause teens to take attention away from education, and it is linked with dangerous interactions. Also, it can cause kids to miss out on real-life interactions. Don’t you wish your friend, sibling, or child would put down a screen and talk to you?
Genres
Hello everyone! Do not be afraid to email me. I do any types of writing. Here are some examples of writing types: expository, argumentative, persuasive, narrative, etc
Zoos: Helpful of Harmful for Animals?
Zoos harm animals. They are locked up for human pleasure, sometimes develop mental illness called Zoochosis, are removed from their natural habitat, do not have the space they need, and it is proven that African and Asian female elephants survive longer if they are in the wild then if they are in zoos.
According to Damian Aspinall, animals are locked up for our pleasure. He states it is "like a life sentence in jail, even though they did absolutely nothing wrong."Humans usually do not notice the sadness in animals eyes. They want freedom, not to be locked up. They get limited space all because people pay to watch them and learn about them.
In the article “Zoochosis”, Stephanie Santana and Shauwn Lukose state animals can develop a mental illness called Zoochosis. Symptoms of Zoochosis include, pacing back and forth, twisting of the neck, bobbing their heads up and down, turning in never ending circles, and tearing holes in their own skin. These animals want to inflict harm on themselves all because they are put in zoos. Almost every animal that develops Zoochosis shakes the cage bars that holds them in to try to escape.
Also according to Stephanie Santana and Shauwn Lukose, animals are removed from their natural habitat. For instance Junior, a killer whale from Iceland was removed from their natural habitat and placed in a tank in Niagara falls. He died after four years, deprived of outside air, sunlight, and also companionship. Many animals are forced into small areas with groups that are nothing like their family.
Animals never get the space they need. They should be able to run around as far as they would like, but instead, they have limited space. For example, aquatic animals like whales and dolphins need to swim up to a hundred miles in one day, and dive hundreds of feet. But, they do not get to have that because they are put into small tanks.
In a graph chart titled “Life Span of Female Elephants in Zoos and in the Wild”, scientists prove that female elephants live longer in the wild. For African elephants, they live around seventeen years in zoos, but when they are in the wild, they live around fifty-six years. For Asian elephants, they live around nineteen years in zoos, while they live around forty-three in the wild.
To conclude, zoos harm animals because they are locked up for human pleasure, can develop mental illness, are removed from their natural habitat, do not get the space they need, and they live longer in the wilderness. Animals all over the world in zoos do not get the basic necessities they need throughout the day. They deserve to be treated right.

So, I wrote this essay in 6th grade. If you'd like a better version of this essay, I'd gladly write out another one for you.
Autism
Autism is a brain development disorder. It is called ASD, which stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Families all over the world take care of children with autism. People with autism are different than us. They do different things than us. They act different. But it does not mean they are not real people. Many children with the disorder get bullied or picked on because of their behavior. But others do not. If people with autism spend more time with other people, they start behaving better. By just seeing what other kids do helps the child.
How does autism affect somebody’s life? Well for starters it makes them have unusual hobbies. They may include: Counting almost everything, finger painting, or making to do lists for people. They do not have very good visual skills, so the brain tends to see pictures broken down into smaller pieces, so the person with Autism focuses on one part on a persons body, like the mouth or nose. They may have personal space issues. People with Autism do not really know about personal space. They tend to sit on people’s laps a lot, or stand really close to people. They may have trouble “reading” body language or facial expressions. For example: if someone is angry they will think they are happy or sad. Lastly their brain does not fully develop. They act younger than their age, even when they are adults.
How can families overcome living with a person with Autism? Families around the world are struggling to live with people with Autism. They may have trouble getting them to sleep, be quiet, or even eat. But some ways to prevent that are: By learning about Autism (the more you know the more you can help) becoming an expert on their child (they should know what they like to do, eat, or read) by accepting them (if families do not accept the child they may feel hurt or rejected) by not giving up (it only takes a little patience and the child’s brain will fully develop) by being consistent (consistency is the best way to enforce learning) and by sticking to a schedule ( people with autism tend to do best when sticking to a planned schedule/routine)
How can siblings help? Siblings can help their brother/sister with autism, but it takes time. How? Siblings can help their brother/sister by getting along with them. Once again children with autism focus on what “normal” children to and try to copy what they do. So, if the sibling yells at them, they will yell back. By helping them with everyday things. Children with Autism may need help with everyday things, so the sibling could help them get around and do things they may not be able to do yet.
Who does it affect? Autism affects one in every sixty eight babies that are born across the world. Although Autism affects both genders, it is four times more likely to affect boys then it is to affect boys. It affects most people when they are born, but not all people. Some people get it in their childhood life. Or even some adults get it, although that does not happen too often. It could also affect teenagers when they are thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, etc.
What are the symptoms? Most common symptoms are: unusual hobbies, counting, or lack of speech. Not all people with Autism have symptoms, they may just have an unusual voice, that is very high or low-pitched. They may not be able to walk in a straight line, be quiet when they are told to, or lack personal space. Or they could have normal hobbies like coloring but just do it all the time.
Although millions of kids, teenagers, and adults may have life with autism, they get through it. Eventually, their brain skills will grow, or develop. It takes time, effort, and not giving up. Someday they will not have to go through with Autism that much. Autism may or may not stay forever, but it does affect people when they have it. Parents or siblings will not have to do special things for them, they can treat them like normal children. To conclude: Autism is a brain disorder that causes millions of people around the world unusual hobbies, lack of interest in normal hobbies, and brain development.
Bottled Or Tap Water?
Bottled water is so much better than bubblers in many ways. Nobody wants other people’s germs. How annoying would it be to keep asking for water and distracting the class in the process? If we had bottled water, we wouldn’t have to ask. Bottled water should be allowed in schools because it keeps us hydrated, because bubbler water can be really gross, and because sometimes kids put their mouth on the bubblers.
First, kids can stay hydrated. Sure, bubblers give water too. But when you drink bottled water, it tastes so much better. If a teacher says you can’t go to the bubbler during a test or lesson and you’re really thirsty, you can get dehydrated! Especially those kids who have gym class. They could be really late to class because the line for the bubbler is to long or they won’t even get a chance to have water!
Second, bubbler water sometimes have gross water. When you drink bottled water you know where it came from and you know it’s fresh. You have no idea where the bubbler water came from. I could come from anywhere like a lake or a sewer, you have no idea! I know I don’t like the thought of that!
Third, bubblers usually have other people’s germs. Some kids put their mouth on the faucet, where the water actually comes out of. Those germs get mixed in with the water. If a kid was sick and drank the water while putting their mouth on the faucet, then the next person that drinks from the bubbler has a chance of getting sick. What about when the bubbler is damaged or broken and the water doesn’t come out very much? Then all kids are putting their mouths super close to the fosset.
Lastly, nobody likes getting sick. Nobody likes drinking gross water. But everybody likes knowing that their water is fresh. Let’s face it, bubblers can be really bad for kids. Bottled water is usually really fresh and it should be allowed in schools. Lastly, it is a perfect way to stay hydrated, healthy and happy.
Why Students Dislike School and How to Fix It
How many times have you gone to school and all you can think is “when will this be over?” An article: “Later to Rise, Not Earlier to Bed For Today’s Tired Teens, Doctors Say” from the Los Angeles Times reveals that students do not get the necessary amount of sleep. Another article: “Water Runs Downhill, and School is Boring.” by Bryan Caplan, a blogger, states that school is super-boring. The two main problems schools need to address are early rising times and students having little to no interaction with teachers.
Getting up early every morning can be hard for some students, especially since some can’t fall asleep that easily. According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, “at the beginning of adolescence, the body delays releasing melatonin, a hormone that tells the body that it is time to go to sleep.” With the early rising times, it can make it harder for teens to fall asleep. This evidence shows that just because teens go to bed earlier does not mean that they will get more sleep. Also mentioned in the Los Angeles Times, “The AAP reports that the average teenager in the U.S. is often as tired as someone with narcolepsy.” As mentioned in the article, narcolepsy is a disease that makes people fall asleep. This is what schools are doing to students, they are causing them to be tired twenty-four seven. If teachers do not want their students to be tired, then they should try to talk to the school board to get them to push forward school times. Lastly, the Los Angeles Time states that “the average teenager in today’s society has difficulty falling asleep before 11 p.m.” Depending on how early a teenager wakes up, the time they spend sleeping is usually 7.5 hours. Since teenagers can not go to bed earlier there is only one solution, go to school later
Many teenagers have difficulties in school, such as bad grades or test scores. This is not because they are dumb, it’s because they have little to no interaction with their teachers. Bryan Caplan, a blogger, feels that high school is super-boring. In one of his blog posts, he states, “two out of three respondents (66%) in 2009 are bored at least every day in class.” Boredom is a common issue in schools. Teenagers try to pay attention, but because of the little interaction with their teachers they either do poorly and do not understand, or can not focus. Bryan Caplan also mentions in the same blog post that, “about one third of the students (33%) were bored because the ‘work wasn’t challenging enough’ while just over one fourth of the respondents were bored because the ‘work was too difficult.’” Adding to the evidence, work being too difficult or not challenging enough can all be avoided if the teachers interacted with the students more. Perhaps asking them questions or checking in with them once in awhile to see how they are doing. Lastly, Caplan states that, “boredom is the single most important reason why kids drop out of high school.” If teachers would just take the time to interact with students, boredom would be avoided. Having no boredom can lead to less high school dropouts.
All in all, the two main reasons why students dislike school are being tired all day and boredom. It seems like teens are tired every day, and usually that is true. As if being tired isn’t enough, being
bored is another thing students have to deal with everyday. If you could change one thing about your
school, what would it be?
